Hay - Grain - Straw
Section 1 - Grain and Seed Crops
- One quart glass jars with lids are to be used to show grain in classes 4 through 7. The fair may use its own containers if it so chooses.
- If the fair management believes any of the exhibits were shown in previous years, those entries may be refused.
- One award per farming enterprise per class.
Class 1: Corn - 6 ears

Section 2 - Hay/Straw
- Long hay only. An exhibit shall consist of a bale section at least 8 inches thick or an equivalent amount if cut from hay in the mow.
Class 1 -
Alfalfa or alfalfa grass mixed, first cutting. Not over 50% of grasses Class 2 - Alfalfa or alfalfa grass mixed, lated cuttings. Not over 50% of grasses Class 3 - Other legumes or legume grass mixtures. Not over 50% of grasses Class 4 - Grass first cutting. Mixtures of timothy and/or other grasses and containing not more than 10% legumes Class 5 - Grass, second cutting. Mixtures of timothy and/or other grasses and containing not more than 10% legumes |
Class 6 -
Mixed hay - any mixture not classified in the previous classes but which contains 50% or more singly or in combination of alfalfa, timothy, clover and grasses. Class 7 - New Seeding Alfalfa Class 8 - Summer Annual Grasses - Sudan grass, Sorghum-Sudan, hybrids, etc. Class 9 - Hay A. Timothy Class 10 - Straw A. Barley B. Oat C. Rye D. Wheat |
Section 3 - Silage
- Silage crop must be named. Exhibits shall consist of ten pounds. (Large size 2 1/2 gallon clear plastic bags are excellent containers for transporting or showing samples. Bags should be equal to a 1-peck measure or larger.)
